I also recommend to read this good tutorial (though it's partly based on outdated PanelsUI), maybe this less developed one, some of the very useful HydrogenAudio's forums and the few links I'll drop here. I invite you to try and see by yourself, to keep in mind that errors come all along and to share any advice, question, difficulty or anything you want to say, may you be new or expert. I'm not an expert on the subject, I've started by installing a few skins and trying to understand how that worked I still think it's the best way to get a good handle on it, though a long and sometimes frustrating way. I've been asked to write a tutorial on skinning foobar2000, because many f2k users encounter difficulties modifying skins or simply using them. All credits belongs to Markkoenig (the original poster). So there still are many functions.This is the re-uploaded version of "How to Skin foobar2000 Part 1" projects. Theoritically, all components I present here (iPod, hotkeys, etc.) work with this interface, except the facets (hence everything related to the search/playlist/library behaviour in the "Winamp-like layout" does not apply). To return to the default UI, just go to Menu>Preferences, section "Display", and chose the Defaut User Interface, then restart foobar.ģ.
Your configuration in the default UI will be saved. Chose a skin (winamp is the only working for me) in the components\skins\ folder. At startup, it will ask you which UI you want, then chose "gfx_window". Paste both in the foobar2000\component\ folders.Ģ. There's an awesome player called, wait for it, Winamp =)Įxtract the archive: you should have a file called foo_ui_gfx.dll and a " skins" folder. It doesn't seem to add any usability, it's merely the contrary. You probably won't find themes to apply apart from the default one. This UI is old (last update 2006) and not developed or supported any more. It's a graphic (contrary to the other ones which are text-based), skinnable, interface. The main user interfaces (more about UIs here) are columns_UI and default_UI, but there is another one called UI GFX. The columns UI is less simple that the default UI to use, and needs a little more time to get used to.
